NEW APRIL 2026 STANDARD
Required in addition to the AFT — effective April 17, 2026
Army Combat Field Test (CFT) — April 2026

The CFT is a new second fitness test for soldiers in combat MOSs (Infantry, Armor, SF, Combat Engineers, Field Artillery, EOD, Divers). 7 events, continuous, in ACUs and combat boots. Required in addition to the AFT — not a replacement. Enter your total completion time to check pass/fail.

Total Time:

Now through April 16, 2027: Failing the CFT will not go on your permanent record. You will be required to recondition but face no career consequences. Full enforcement begins April 17, 2027 — failures after that date trigger Flag Code C and possible reclassification out of your combat MOS.

Army AFT Score Calculator & All 5 Military Branch Fitness Tests

Every U.S. military branch has a different fitness test, different events, and different passing scores. This free calculator covers all five — Army AFT, Navy PRT, Marine Corps PFT, Air Force PT, and Coast Guard PFT — in a single tool.

Army Fitness Test (AFT)
AFT Scoring Scales (eff 1 Jun 2025) · DA Form 705 · Army Directive 2025-06

The Army Fitness Test (AFT) replaced the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) on June 1, 2025. It consists of five events designed to measure the strength, endurance, and combat readiness of every soldier. The Standing Power Throw was removed. Maximum total score is 500 points (100 per event). Note that a passing AFT score does not exempt you from Army body composition standards — both are evaluated independently.

Soldiers must score a minimum of 60 points on every individual event regardless of total score. One event below 60 is an automatic failure even with a 490 total. Two scoring standards apply: General Standard (300 total minimum, age- and gender-normed) and Combat MOS Standard (350 total minimum, age-normed, gender-neutral) for soldiers in 21 designated combat occupational specialties.

MDL 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift — lower body strength, hex bar, 140–340 lbs range
HRP Hand-Release Push-Up — upper body endurance, 2 minutes, hands release at bottom
SDC Sprint-Drag-Carry — anaerobic capacity, 5 × 50m shuttles with sled and kettlebells
PLK Plank — core strength, timed hold, replaced the leg tuck
2MR 2-Mile Run — aerobic endurance, lower time scores higher

Training tip: The 2-Mile Run and the Deadlift carry the most point spread. A soldier near maximum on both events can compensate for a weaker SDC time and still hit Excellent (400+). Use our calculator above to find your weakest event and train it first. See

Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT)
OPNAVINST 6110.1L · Biannual Requirement

The Navy PRT is administered twice per year and scores three events on a 0–100 scale each. The three scores are averaged into a Physical Readiness Test (PRT) score. Sailors must reach at least the Probationary level (45 points) on every individual event to pass. A single event below Probationary means an overall failure even if the average is passing.

PU Push-Ups — 2 minutes, age- and gender-normed standards
PLK Forearm Plank — replaced sit-ups, timed hold, 2021 onwards
1.5R 1.5-Mile Run — timed, lower is better; swim/bike/row alternatives available

Key rule: Sailors must reach at least Probationary (45 points) on every individual event. One event below 45 fails the whole PRT — a strong plank cannot rescue a failed run.

Score every event with alternate cardio options on the full Navy PRT Calculator — push-ups, forearm plank, and the 1.5-mile run, swim, row, or bike.

Marine Corps PFT & CFT
MCO 6100.13A · Two Tests Per Year

Marines take two separate fitness tests per year: the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) in the spring and the Combat Fitness Test (CFT) in the fall. Maximum score is 300 points on each. Marines are rated 1st Class (270–300), 2nd Class (225–269), or 3rd Class (135–224). Falling below 3rd Class or failing to complete a test results in adverse marks on the fitness report.

PFT Pull-Ups or Push-Ups — males default to pull-ups; females may choose either
PFT Plank or Crunches — 2-minute abdominal event; plank now preferred
PFT 3-Mile Run — timed, one of the hardest cardio standards in any branch
CFT Movement to Contact — 880-yard sprint in boots and utes
CFT Ammo Can Lift — 30-lb can overhead, max reps in 2 minutes
CFT Maneuver Under Fire — 300-yard obstacle course with combat tasks

Marine-specific: The 3-mile run is the biggest point differentiator in the PFT. A male Marine under 25 needs a sub-18:00 run for 1st Class. Focus cardio training on maintaining pace over distance, not just short sprints.

Run your pull-ups, plank, and 3-mile run through the full Marine Corps PFT Calculator for your class and point total.

Air Force Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment (PFRA)
AFMAN 36-2905 · Biannual Requirement

The Air Force Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment (PFRA), updated under AFMAN 36-2905 (effective 1 March 2026), scores four components totaling 100 points. Cardio is the highest-weighted at 50 points, with body composition (waist-to-height ratio) at 20, and muscular strength and core endurance at 15 each. Each component offers exercise options, and a composite of 75 is required to pass. Diagnostic testing runs March–August 2026; scored testing resumes 1 September 2026.

Cardio 2-Mile Run or 20m HAMR — 50 points maximum, highest-weighted component
WHtR Waist-to-Height Ratio — 20 points; waist ÷ height, lower is better (≥ 0.60 fails)
Strength Push-Ups or Hand-Release Push-Ups — 15 points maximum
Core Sit-Ups, Cross-Leg Reverse Crunch, or Forearm Plank — 15 points maximum
Air Force PFRA · Composite Score Categories

Excellent90–100PASS
Satisfactory75–89.9PASS
UnsatisfactoryFIP requiredBelow 75FAIL
Air Force tip: Cardio is 50 of 100 points, so the 2-mile run (or HAMR) is where the most points are won or lost. But every component has its own minimum — a waist-to-height ratio of 0.60 or higher fails the body-composition component regardless of your composite. Train cardio first, manage WHtR year-round.

Score every PFRA option — HAMR, hand-release push-ups, plank, and more — on the full Air Force PT Calculator.

Coast Guard Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
ALCOAST · Annual Requirement

The Coast Guard PFT became a mandatory service-wide test on July 1, 2026 — the first in Coast Guard history. It has three physical events: push-ups, a timed forearm plank (which replaced sit-ups in the 2025 update), and one cardio event of your choice (1.5-mile run, 12-minute swim, or 2,000-meter row). It is scored pass/fail against age- and gender-based minimums — there is no point total. Body composition (waist-to-height ratio under 0.55) is assessed separately under the Physical Readiness Program.
